BABY SHOWER (MAR 27 2021)

By: Tailah Janbakhsh

On Saturday, March 27th, The Hispanic Family Foundation hosted its second community Baby Shower. Baby Showers have been the newest addition to HFF’s outreach programs. The Hispanic Family Foundation (HFF) will be hosting Baby Showers quarterly, with the next shower taking place on June 19th, 2021!

So what exactly happens at these Baby Showers?

At the Baby Showers, HFF and their partners provide food, presents, games, and most importantly, health resources for women. They have had a handful of guest speakers ranging from nutritionists to doctors, to midwives. The goal of the Baby Showers is to help under-resourced or at-risk women get the help and support they need in order to have strong and healthy families.

This past baby shower, we had some amazing guest speakers! One of them was dietician Cindy Llamas, who discussed nutrition and pregnancy. We also had other wonderful guests who spoke about women’s health and the importance of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Families from many different countries, backgrounds, and cultures came and enjoyed this community event. Towards the end of the shower, HFF Director Diane Janbakhsh, noticed that one young couple hadn’t won any of the big ticket items, so she asked Joey Maldonado, pastor of The Movement Church, to see if they had any needs.

The couple explained that they were expecting their seventh child and they did not have anything they needed for their baby! They had hoped to win a stroller, but everything had already given away! Pastor Joey felt burdened for this couple, so he connected with them and promised that his church would purchase them a brand new stroller!

Soon after, The Movement Church was able to purchase this amazing young couple a brand new stroller and were able to sow a seed of hope and love into their lives. For HFF and all of our partners, helping those in our Nashville community makes all of the hard work worthwhile. We love and cherish blessing others, and none of this would be possible without our partners, volunteers, and donors. We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your service to the Hispanic and Immigrant communities!
